Hazardous Chemicals Register

Purpose. This register lists every hazardous chemical held at the Brunswick and Preston sites, its hazard classification, storage location and maximum quantity, and the date of the current safety data sheet.
1.How the register is kept
The Quality and WHS Coordinator maintains this register. A product is added when it is approved under the Chemical Safety Policy and removed when the last container leaves site. The register is checked against the physical stock each quarter and after any spill. Safety data sheets are filed in the red folders at each chemical store in the same order as the register.
2.Print and dye studio, Preston
The studio holds reactive and acid dyes, dye auxiliaries and screen preparation chemicals. Powdered dyes must be weighed in the weighing booth with extraction on. Sodium hydroxide and acetic acid are stored on separate bunded shelves.

- Sodium carbonate: irritant; maximum 10 kilograms; alkali shelf
3.Footwear workshop, Preston
The workshop holds solvent-based and water-based adhesives, primers, solvents and finishing products. Solvent-based products are stored in the flammable liquids cabinet and used only at the extracted adhesive bench.

4.Production and finishing, Brunswick
The Brunswick site holds spot cleaning fluid, machine oil, thread lubricant and pressing chemicals. Spot cleaning fluid is used only at the extracted spotting table.

5.Warehouse and cleaning, both sites
General cleaning products and the diesel for the forklift are held in the warehouse chemical cupboard and the fuel locker respectively.

6.Register review
This register is reviewed in full each January, when a product is added or removed and after any spill or exposure event. Safety data sheets older than five years must be replaced with the current supplier version.
